When was the last time that you took a professional development course? I remember when I was a junior or senior in high school I read Dale Carnegie’s book called How To Win Friends and Influence People. The book almost instantly changed my life. I started making more friends, gaining confidence, and communicating with all types of people.

As the years went by I started to become less effective as a communicator. When I finally finished law school I felt like a social outcast because of my inability to communicate and present myself. Knowing that I had student loans that will need to be paid off and a career to start, I needed some type of refresher that would help me thrive. I went to my local library and grabbed the audiobook of Dale Carnegie’s
How To Win Friends and Influence People. What was the effect the second time around? The effect was similar to that of the first time I went through the book. I was again able to effectively communicate and present myself. I got a job before even finishing the book and an even better job not too long after!

I learned from this experience the importance of refreshing the skills I had previously learned. The current certificates and courses offered by the United University Effort, through its partners at MindEdge, may provide a top notch intellectual and practical refresher for you wherever you may be in your present stage of your career or your life. Many principles of success also apply across various disciplines and/or spheres of life - professional, personal, social or vocational. If we do not continue to learn and refresh our skills and/or knowledge, then we are doing a disfavor to ourselves and limiting our potential. Take a look at our
Certificates and Courses. You may discover a much-needed professional development course.
